Lightweight NIJ IV Ballistic Plate

The Intelligent Armour Lightweight NIJ IV Ballistic Plate is designed to meet both NIJ III and NIJ IV (plus the ammunition as below) when used in conjunction with NIJ IIIA Body Armour.

The Lightweight NIJ IV Ballistic Plate uses a ceramic casting this is moulded from lightweight Silicon Carbide, this has the advantages of outstanding performance at very low weight of 2.15 kg +/- 5%, while also being manufactured in the UK. We have supplies these ballistic plates to a number of Close Protection companies Worldwide and also to UK Government departments

The strike face loads on armour of this type are essentially compressive and hence the high hardness and rigidity of ceramic are very important. Rear loadings are however tensile and are absorbed by high tensile strength advanced composite backings, Intelligent Armour uses a high pressure moulded DSM Dyneema ® type for this model.

Curved ballistic plate for a covert fit

All of our ballistic plates are multi curved for optimised fit and comfort and the same ballistic plate is used for both front and back protection.

Our Lightweight NIJ IV Ballistic Plate can be used in conjunction with a covert vest and is designed to be comfortable and easy to conceal under clothes while offering the maximum protection possible.

This Lightweight NIJ IV Ballistic Plate is 250mm x 300mm with corners top and bottom with nominal weight of 2.15 kg +/- 5%
